How do you know it was a girl hummingbird? This is a great picture! Aren't their wings usually flapping?

Maria--this is a ruby throated hummingbird--the males have red throats the girls don't :) Her wings were flapping--I used a high shutter speed :)
Great capture! We've been hoping for some hummingbirds this summer, but no luck so far.
