Then and now part 3
This is Bailey. He is my timneh african grey parrot. We picked him out as an egg and put a deposit down. Because they have a life span of 30 -50 years before we could adopt him we had to have someone in our family agree to take him as he should outlive us! At first my dd agreed but Bailey loves our son Ryan so he will eventually go to him. You probably have all seen Congo African Greys--they are bigger, lighter grey and have a blood red tail.Bailey is darker grey and his tail is darker. I wanted a Timneh because they are smaller. Both species have the same intelligence range which is about that of a 3-5 yr old human. He is quite the character and although he doesn't talk as much as I thought he would he does say some things. Bailey wants a nut ! Bailey wants a noodle! Those are his favorite saying. He also likes to tell Bella to "get the ball!" Which drives the poor dog crazy as she is ball ocd! He calls my name in perfect imitation of my husband's voice and he can say hello in 5 different voices. He loves to whistle tunes and he has plenty of those he can do. His favorite tv show is survivor--lol. Here he is newly hatched--maybe a week or so--and now.

ReplyDeleteHow fun! We have some friends with Greys, and they definitely are family members with distinctive personalities. Yours sounds like a wonderful guy!! Love the "head shot"!
ReplyDeleteI agree. . . the head shot is beautiful! He seems adorable! How old is he now? Are you able to go away over night, or for a few days, without him, or would someone have to come in on a daily basis to give him fresh water and food? Please keep posting more photos of him, and maybe even a video!
ReplyDeleteHe is gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteAngela, Bailey is now 8 yrs old and my son comes over and takes care of him when we leave. However our veterinarian will also board him if we need him too. I will try to get a video sometime :)
