Easter cupcakes
I saw these online and thought they were adorable. I had only worked with fondant once on cookies and although they did turn out beautiful I thought they were a heck of a lot of work . Plus I didn't like the taste as well as icing. But these cupcakes were just sooo cute, I had to give it a try. I read the directions on PW's blog and I set out. The cupcakes are made like always and iced with frosting. I had bought fondant at Michael's and I tore off a piece and put a small bit of gel coloring on it then pulled it like taffy! Once the color was even and as dark as I liked,I rolled it out and then used a glass to cut out circles. I iced a few cupcakes and then put the fondant on top. The frosting has to be sticky to hold the fondant in place. I smoothed it out and ran my fingers around the edge to smooth it out. The little faces were just freehanded. I have to say either the fondant was a different flavor or the icing underneath makes a huge difference because these were very tasty!

I've been too chicken to fool with fondant (or maybe perhaps too lazy) - but these are so adorable.
ReplyDeleteThey look so cute!
ReplyDeleteThese are just so cute, but I don't know if I'd have the patience! They sound like a lot of work! I think I'm more of a cook than a baker.
