Iris

I love Iris. My dad called them "flags" although I don't know why. But they do sort of remind me of flags. They hold their little flower heads high. I remember my Dad tilling up part of our yard and planting iris and seeing all the different colors in the spring. When my Dad died and we had our first home, we were able to take some and plant them there. When we moved here I also took some so I still have something from my childhood.  I found this one and a yellow one blooming :)

  2. Oh, beautiful!!! I can almost smell them...love the pale colors; they fit the old-fashioned theme with the old name "flags". I can remember my mom calling them that, too. Really like the first shot showing the veining, and the last one, too. Nice DOF in both!!

  3. Very delicate, very pretty. When we moved into this house, my grandmother send down flowers from her flower garden (along with a garden snake hidden in one of the buckets - another story for another day). I still have some of those flowers blooming. Delightful shots.

  4. Beautiful, creamy, colors in these! How nice that you were able to take some of the iris from you home along with you in the move.
